Sadness
Well, this is it.
After all these years, I have to say goodbye to the Deviantart community. I can't say that it's been wonderful, but it hasn't been the worst experience for me either. I find myself at a pretty hard crossroads here with how I want my professional life to proceed from here. In the 9-10 years I've been with deviantart, I haven't found the critiques I've needed to make improvements, which I've found I need in order to improve on my art. There are a lot of very talented people on this site, and I don't want to diminish that at all. Instead of comparing the views of deviations to others, I'm going to take my artwork and move it to another place. I'm going to be leaving my account up for a few more days or so, just so the message is out in the open for those who wish to see. If you wouldn't mind, I would appreciate it if you would pass on to anyone who asks where my gallery has gone. However, I don't think that's much the case or going to be an issue.
Since there are still people who I'm interested in here on Deviantart, I might not deactivate the account entirely, instead, clear out all the galleries and just lurk around. Maybe. We'll see.
Things with my job at Sandswept have been wonderful, and I'm glad I'm on for the wild ride. It's made me realize that I must pursue a more personalized and professional portfolio, more than what I can achieve here. It seems that most of the features which were readily available for me when I first came here, are now a monetized commodity, and I don't feel that paying X amount of money to have basic features to streamline the portfolio process is a good thing. Gifting this is a nice idea, but eventually, that runs out. I have paid for subscriptions in the past, but I don't think I can do that any more.
So, to keep this short and sweet, I will no longer be posting any more work on this gallery. Instead, I will be posting my more recent pieces on the blog. Don't worry, I've got all my super old drawings archived on two hard drives...heh.
